We recently stayed with Phil and Jude with the specific purpose of visiting their gardens which were certainly not a disappointment, they were absolutely stunning ... the B&B itself marvellous.

"Excellent B&B. Friendly and good value for money."
Hazel D
We stayed here for 2 nights. The B&B is run by English couple Jude and Phil, who are friendly and informative about the area. The room was beautifully decorated, and exceptionally clean. There is a residents lounge with tea and coffee facilities. There is information about places to visit in the room, which we found extremely helpful. The gardens are..

"Le Mans Classic "
Sharon G
Visited for the Le Mans Classic. Phil & Jude were most welcoming and the house and superb gardens are a credit to them. Although around 45 minutes away from the circuit at Le Mans the journey is straight forward as they are only 10 minutes away from the D28 motorway. Lovely, friendly B&B, would certainly recommend.

"Loved it"

A beautifully restored house, outbuildings and large garden - better than our hotel in Giverny and a quarter of the price. We found this place as a result of looking for a Roman site I wanted to visit not far away; in fact, their website has a vast amount of useful information on places to visit within an hour or...

Four years since our last visit. The gardens look evens better, a testament to the dedication both Phil and Jude have to their home. Great hospitality as always with some excellent restaurant recommendations. Phil booked a table for us on the Sunday evening in Neufchâtel. I really hope it isn't another four years until we return.

"Thoroughly enjoyable"

I stayed at La Basse Cour overnight while on my way to to Spain by motorcycle. I could not believe how welcoming and helpful my hosts were. The room was beautiful and the gardens lovely. The restaurant they recommended for dinner was excellent. I will be returning this year if they have room.

Stayed for one night & didn't want to leave in the morning. Will be returning next year for a few days to enjoy the B&B and the beautiful grounds. Enjoyed our one night with tea in the summer house set around the lake watching the abundance of wildlife. Phil & Jude couldn't be better hosts, lovely clean rooms with a...

"A favourite place in France."
Johnroy45
It was our second stay at La Basse Cour and we were welcomed back, by Phil and Jude, like old friends. As before, the room was spotless and contained everything 'one' would need for either a short, or, long stay. It's a very comfortable house with a fabulous garden containing a variety of peaceful places to sit, relax and drink...

Reviewed 23 June 2015 Dave G
Found via Air BNB. Very reasonable rates, beautiful house and garden. Rooms are spacious and very, very clean. Great shower. Our hosts Jude and Phil provide a continental breakfast. Free parking. All you can hear in the garden are birds and frogs. Beautiful! Highly recommended.

"Hard to beat"

We were travelling from the Eurotunnel to an area just past Le Mans and wanted to find a place to stay for a night. When we found ‘La Basse Cour’ it looked amazing so we decided to stay two nights and explore the area a little. We are so glad we did. The rooms were the best we’ve stayed in...

This place delivers everything it promises - and more. Perfectly situated for a stopover when travelling either direction on the autoroute, or as a base for a short break in Normandy. The rooms are very comfortable, quiet and charmingly colour-coded. The generous breakfast with homemade jams and marmalade etc satisfyingly kick starts the day. The hosts - Phil and Jude...

"Beautiful house, beautiful gardens, beautiful room"
Mark
Putting aside the beautiful old farmhouse and our room itself, the lovely gardens and terraces set this apart from other places we stayed - a lot better than a lot of Sawdays! Comfy, clean bedroom and super shower. A guest sitting room with telly, books, drinks and wifi were an unexpected bonus

"Excellent find!"
Graham T
A very comfortable B & B amid a region of picturesque small villages in the French countryside and a real bargain as well. Hosts Phil and Jude immediately make you feel at home in this beautifully restored old house and their extensive gardens are not to be missed either. We would definitely return and recommend it very highly!

We can recommend this beautiful B&B in the knowledge that you will not be disappointed. The hosts Jude & Phil are excellent and the rooms are of the highest standard with an addition of a lounge for the evening. If you like gardening or just enjoy being in a wonderful garden then go to this B&B where your hosts love you to enjoy the surroundings they have created.

"Wow!"
John F
What an absolute gem! Chosen originally at random, probably the best b&B we have ever used ... And there have been lots! This place is idyllic. Beautifully restored farm house, gardens a delight, room immaculate, warm welcome and helpful advice about what to do. (Phil and Jude are the perfect hosts). So pleased we booked an extra night. Borrowed bikes (thank you!) and cycled in the shade of the forest then relaxed in the tranquility of the gardens at St Ceneri. There are too many places to see in France to allow the luxury of a return visit to many. This is an exception. We'll be back!

"Consistently great"
Wenw00d
La Basse Cour is a diamond. Jude and Phil make your stay so enjoyable, the rooms are spotless, the hospitality special and the gardens absolutely wonderful. Lots of hard work and thought have gone into creating La Basse Cour which has resulted in an oasis of calm in a typical French village. Try La Basse Cour, you won't be disappointed.

I found this B&B via Internet search and what a GREAT FIND it was !! Very quiet and Very clean Phil and Jude are great hosts. It is like staying with the family relatives that you DO like. Their home is way better than any B&B I have ever stayed in and better than a lot of hotels I have stayed in in France. Free WiFi was a major plus for me to keep in touch with home. I will definitely be staying there again next time I am in France. Thank you Phil and Jude !!

Wow ! What a find, why cant all B&B's be like this great location, charming hosts reasonable charges. My wife and I stayed with Phil and Jude for two nights recently, it was one of the highlights of our tour of northern France. We decided to break journey from Bayeux to Tours in Ancinnes for a couple of days to rest up after a hectic schedule touring Normandy & Brittany. It was great to just chill out at the La Basse Cour. The accommodation was first rate, the gardens a dreamland and Jude & Phil charming ...

"A warm, friendly refuge"
BobN45963
We had a terrific three-night stay at Le Basse Cour. Phil and Jude were gracious hosts. In restoring and decorating their beautiful old home, they paid great attention to detail. After three days, we were still discovering quaint "objets d'art." The same attention to detail can be found in the lovely grounds and landscaping. Everything in the house was spotless. The breakfasts were great! Thank you Jude and Phil for a wonderful, relaxing stay.

"5 day stay in Cream Room at La Basse Cour"
TR-DR
Dear Phil and Jude, thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. Looking at the photos of 2004-09 you have clearly put in a lot of hard work to create a really splendid B&B from the relative ruins of an old farmhouse, and are to be congratulated on doing it so well. You know how to make guests welcome and...

It had been three years since we stayed with Phil and Jude at La Basse Cour and I'm delighted to say that we had another great stay.
